What did you learn from reading The Devil's Arithmetic?

Jane Yolen wrote The Devil's Arithmetic because she knows the importance of learning from history so it is not repeated.  I learned so much from this book and I want to be more open to the stories and traditions that are passed down in my family.  What did the book teach you?

"I learned that my families religion is important and that we should learn from that."

"I loved how brave Hannah was and she rose to the challenge."

"I would have been so scared!"

"This book makes me want to sit down and have dinner with my grandparents."

"We should all tell others the things we learn about history.  I bet Hannah will always speak of what she has learned."

"I liked how Hannah went from being stubborn and bored to being courageous and brave!"

"I really don't know what I would do if I opened a door and the Prophet Elijah was there!"

"This book really made me think and made me appreciate my grandparents and their stories!"

"Wow! It makes me so happy that my book has you all thinking about the importance of learning from those that went before us.  I am glad that you are so inspired after reading Hannah's story!" -Jane
